Now that the weather has turned autumnal, our children, playworkers and the animals are keeping warm thanks to a £6,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund. The grant gave our own fundraising efforts a vital boost and meant we could complete this work during 2014, before the weather turned cold again.
Nikki Anderson, New Ark Playgroup Manager, said: “Many activities at New Ark take place outdoors in our adventure playground, city farm and eco garden – it is vital that everyone has a warm place to retreat to.”
The Big Lottery Fund is responsible for giving out 40% of the money raised for good causes by the National Lottery. It is committed to bringing real improvements to communities and the lives of people most in need and has been rolling out grants to health, education, environment and charitable causes across the UK. Since its inception in 2004 it has awarded close to £6bn. The Fund was formally established by Parliament on 1 December 2006.
